One of the most annoying things when sitting down at a reception is the enormous size of the centerpiece. They tower and you end up playing peek-a-boo with the person sitting across from you. There are many benefits to having a backyard wedding at home or the home of a parent or friend. The renting of facilities can cost as much as one third of your wedding budget depending on how much space is needed and how you want it themed. Travel time may be reduced as well as some wedding halls are located on the outskirts of towns near fairgrounds. Others carry a big rental charge and the date has to be just right so as not to coincide with other events.

If you have a home or backyard wedding, you can also save money on catering. Having a dedicated barbecue wedding is another way to make your wedding budget stretch and save big bucks provided you have family members ready to pitch in and do the cooking. You can serve steaks and shrimp or even hot dogs and hamburgers if you do not mind having some fun with the event. Many find this not only inexpensive but down home and charming. It is almost like combining a family reunion with a wedding. You can have the best of these worlds and throw in some family friends as well.

If you have a big garden at your wedding site home, you can theme the wedding to fit the garden. There are spring wedding favors and even garden wedding favors that are inexpensive and tons of fun. Your guests will feel much more comfortable at an event like this and if you really wanted to make it more relaxed, let them know that it is a casual affair.

Planning a wedding can be difficult enough without worrying about competition for the best man’s position.
