How to Coordinate Your Bridal Veil With Your Wedding Dress
If you’ve decided to wear a traditional veil with your weddings dress, you have several styles and lengths of bridal veils to choose from. Most bridal veils come attached to plain clear combs so you can attach the headpieces to them, or you can hide the comb under the headpiece and remove only the veil after the ceremony.
Or you may only want to wear a veil without a headpiece and tuck the veil comb up under an elegant hairstyle.
From the shortest to the longest, these are main styles of bridal veils:
* The Blusher
* Shoulder Length
* Elbow Length
* Fingertip or Wrist Length
* Chapel Length
* Cathedral Length
* Mantilla
From a single tier to multiple tiers, bridal veils come in a variety of selections. You can purchase a veil that’s already made and attached to a comb, or you can custom order a veil to your specifications or you can even choose to make your own veil if you’re crafty enough and you want something that’s really you.
Once you’ve decided on the style of veil you want, you need to decide how long you want your veil to be and whether you’ll be wearing a blusher, then measure for your veil length following these steps:
1. Use a cloth tape measure and someone to help you with measuring.
2. Put your headpiece on exactly where you’ll wear it for your wedding.
Tip: You’ll get a closer measurement of the length of the veil if you wear your hair the same as you will be on the day of your wedding.
3. Start at the point where headpiece and veil will be attached, or if you’re not wearing a headpiece, at the point on your head where you will be putting the headpiece comb.
4. Measure down to where you would like the first tier to fall. That is the length of the veil.
If you’re having multiple tiers, simply repeat the process for the other tiers.
If you’re going to wear a blusher veil, which is the shortest top layer of the veil which is worn over the face, start measuring from the point where the blusher will either attach to your headpiece or attach to the veil comb down to where you want the blusher to end.
