How to Choose a Day For Your Wedding

Most people do not consider the day of the week a wedding is held on as important. I’ve seen couples happily running down the church steps, dodging rice missiles on almost every day of the week. But before you decide on a wedding date, consider certain issues that may arise. For instance, Sunday is the day that folks go to church, an obvious pitfall that you want to avoid. Also, tee time at the local greens starts at one o’clock.

Monday is not a good wedding day either. First of all, anything can happen on a Monday. Usually, it is something bad that would never happen on the other days of the week. It did not get that reputation for nothing. Besides that, no matter what time of year it is, men are preoccupied on Mondays in anticipation of Monday Night Football. The problem has been identified in a football gene and geneticists are work around the clock to find a cure. Except on Monday nights, obviously, there might be a game on. Monday is also the best day of the week to do some shopping, perhaps for those bridal shower favors you’ve been meaning to buy.

Tuesdays are no good either. Everyone knows that Tuesdays are all you can eat shrimp buffet night at Hooters. Do you really want your groom to be thinking about that on your wedding day? Besides that, if you tell your boss you are getting married on a Tuesday, he will want you to work on that Monday and you have way too much to do the day before your wedding to be working. Did I mention that it is all you can eat shrimp night at Hooters?

Wednesday might not be too bad of a wedding day. I mean, it must be called hump day for a reason. It has the actual word “wed” and “day” in it and the word yes is in there as well. If you say it right, it sounds like Wedingsday. This is a good day to keep in mind when planning a wedding.

Thursdays are out because it is too close too Friday. Everyone is preoccupied thinking about what they are going to do on the weekend to really pay much attention to a wedding on Thursday. By the time Thursday rolls around you are pretty much tuckered out from the long week at work. Thursday is also the second best night of the week to shop for those wedding shower favors you forgot to pick up on Monday. You can get married on Thursday but do not be upset when your partner dozes off and has to be elbow nudged when it is time to say, “I do.”

No one wants to get married on a Friday. That is the night for bachelor parties and general carousing. You have waited all week for Friday to get here and it is time for some release. Who in their right mind would want to put on a tuxedo on a Friday night? It is a good proposal night but not a great wedding night. There is a ton of traffic on Friday anyway.

Now Saturday sounds like a great day for a wedding! If you get married on Saturday, you only miss on day on the golf course. Traffic is less intense and the preacher will be well rested and at his marrying best. Most of your guests will be off work and able to attend. If you are driving to your honeymoon destination, Saturday and Sunday are great travel days. Overall, I would say that you could not go wrong getting married on a Saturday.
