On Page SEO for Your Website

Helpful On page SEO for Photographers (any website owners)

I’ve been reading a lot about SEO. I’ve actually worked hard for three month to get my site to page one of Google. Thankfully, I’m on page one for numerous keywords. I would be in position one if I did not stop what I was doing for my websites SEO (position six or less) . I’m also on page one for google place for my main site for multiple keyword too. Which is AWESOME. My hard work paid off.

So why write about on page SEO for Photographers?
It would have been better or easier for my site to rank if I started right in the first place. I neglected on page seo for a long time. If you check my site now, you will only see one or two post on page SEO like I described here. So, if you’re just starting out, this is a good start for you to do for your website. Trust me, it’s super easy to do. Easier than doing off page SEO. Furthermore, I wrote about on page SEO on my blog to sell the plugin that I’ve been using on my other sites, it called SEOPRESSOR – it’s a soft sell really.  This plugin is helpful when doing on page seo.  Read on and find out. Enjoy and I hope you learn something.

On page SEO is often neglected by many photographers or website owners since they don’t know much about it or think it doesn’t matter much as far as SEO purposes.  Furthermore, most talk of SEO is about off line.

In this article, I will go over basic  on page SEO for photographers that can be easily be done with your current skill level.  First off, there are two types SEO that matters to us photographers: on page and off page SEO.

It’s 20%/80% rule of your websites total SEO points.  On page SEO for photographers is worth about 20%, while off page SEO is 80% .  On page SEO for photographers is the easiest to manipulate and it’s ALL white hat SEO.

On Page SEO for Photographers MENU:

ARTICLE:  You’ll need to write  500 or more words. There are some who says, 250 is enough. For our on page SEO,  250 will probably do since most photographers do not like to write.  If you do, keep it to minimum of 500.  You can always describe everything you saw, smelled, tasted like the gown, tux, scene, what happened during the event…etc.  I bet that you will come up with more than 500 words.

TITTLE: Post or page tittle must have your keyword in it “On page SEO for Photographers” or “San Jose (wedding or portrait) Photographer: Images of Sarah”

Make sure that you put the keyword in the  url too.  If you look at my url, it is included there.  If you are using %post_title%  for your permalink (don’t change it or add it now now since it will screw thing up) then it should automatically add it to your URL.  Example for this site:  http://www.benipayo.com/ on page seo for photographers /.

Word density (keywords) should be  2 to 4%.  So, if your keyword is “On Page SEO for Photographer“, then you must have at least 2 to 4% in the body of your article. Your keywords needs to be bolden, underlined, or italicized for it to be SEO friendly.  Make sure that you have it in the first two paragraph and at least one in the last paragraph.

Note: Your keyword is your anchor text. Example:  I love on page seo for photographers should look like this:  I love <a href=”http://www.benipayo.com/on-page-seo-for-photographers/”> on page seo for photographers </a>.

HEADING TAGS:  It’s the mini tittles for your on page SEO  post.   You must have H1, H2, and H3 with same keyword (On page SEO for Photographers).

One example:  < h 1 > Helpful On page SEO for Photographers < / h 1 > .

PLUGINS: Everyone should be using some type of SEO plugin by now for better on page seo for photographers.  Examples are  All in One SEO, Platinum SEO Pack, WordPress SEO by Yoast, etc. If you have an old site, you may end up with a problem if you add it on now.  Moreover, you can use these plugins to add the meta-tags.  For me,  I’m too lazy to change my meta keywords so I let the All in One SEO do it for me.

LINKS:  It is best to have your links at the first two on page seo for photographers paragraphs.   Total links:  about  3 to 4.  Five  if you really must have that much.   One external  link must be from a high PR site with “no follow”. That means a website with authority such as wikipedia or any authority related sites that is pertinent to what your article is about. If they have high PR, they have authority (pr>6 usually are the best).  I use wikipedia since it has many pages regarding photography.  If you are linking to other site that is not yours, make sure you add “no follow”.  Example of one external link:  “<a rel=”nofollow” href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_engine_optimization”>On Page SEO for Photographer</a>”

It is also good to link to other post in your site, not just your home site (www.yourweb.com and instead www.yourweb.com/bestphotographer).  So if you have written about another on page SEO for photographers or similar articles, it would be very appropriate to link that post or page.

At the very end of each post or page, make sure you add your link back to your main site: “Back to the home page for more San Jose Wedding“.   This will get the bots to crawl your site much longer. I’ve been told that this is good for on page SEO for photographers.

Image:  Tittle should be the same as your keyword and use the alt tag to use a variant of your keyword.

Other Important On Page SEO for PHotographers

Site map:  Go to bing, yahoo, google webmaster tools to include your sites. You then have to add your xml sitemap to those engines. I use XML Sitemap plugin for my website which automatically notify bing, google, and ask.

Others important aspects of on page SEO for photographers are: Code optimization, html and CSS validation which are too complicated for most photographers like us.
